The heart is a vital organ of the human body that is used to circulate blood around the body. Heart diseases attack the heart rendering it difficult to do its work. The attack may be fatal leading to heart failure and later death. Most diseases, referred to as coronary heart diseases occur when the arteries that supply blood become blocked walls preventing blood flow. The more the plaque becomes enlarged, blood flow becomes reduced.
Heart disease have resulted in other heart problems of the heart attack. Heart attack happens when the plaque completely blocks the arteries preventing oxygen supply to the body. Heart attack causes to a bigger extent the damage of heart muscles. In addition, the heart is associated with other diseases that include; stroke, high blood pressure, and rheumatic heart diseases. Lifestyle causes are major factors that contribute to heart diseases. This is because they involve how we live in our daily life. Lifestyle causes are preventable.
Smoking is the leading cause of the heart problems and failures. Smoking is the first cause of many preventable deaths in most of the world countries. Through research, smokers have been found to be six times predisposed to heart problems that the people who don’t smoke. Smoking increases and doubles the risk of having stroke and lung cancer respectively. Smoking to an extent blocks the lungs causing conditions like bronchitis and emphysema. Those who stay close to smokers, also called secondary smokers are at the risk of getting respiratory problems.
High blood pressure which is also known as hypertension is another leading cause of heart diseases. Hypertension is also known to be a major cause of stroke Major contributors to the disease include family history, overweight and diet. Hypertension is also called a silent killer because it does not show any signs. Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood that helps the blood to flow around the body. High blood pressure causes the heart to malfunction due to the damage of the arteries.
High blood cholesterol is a major risk of contracting heart disease. The body needs cholesterol to function. The body makes the needed cholesterol, and the excess builds in the walls of the arteries. Cholesterol build up in the arteries makes them narrower preventing them to pump blood as required.
Overweight and obesity have become major factors in the cause of heart diseases. The general rule of dietary is that one should lose as many calories as they absorb. It’s the buildup and accumulation of fats and cholesterol that causes obesity, causing blockage of arteries. Exercises can reduce heart diseases and inability to have them brings heart problems. Physical activities help in breaking down calories and cholesterol in the body. People who don’t exercise makes the fat build up in the arteries preventing blood flow. Effective measures are necessary since they help in eradicating heard malfunctions.
