Perhaps the most common use of hypnotherapy is to quit smoking. Everybody is aware of the deadly consequences smoking can have on their health. Even with this knowledge, most smokers unable to quit and even though some may succeed at first, many wind up going back. Most people are usually desperate to quit by the time they result to hypnosis. Some might require one session while some require many sessions in order to modify their attitude towards smoking and quit the habit before it’s too late. Another common application of hypnotherapy is in overcoming fears, phobias and anxiety. Some folks are not able to lead normal lives due to a range of fears and phobias, most of which are irrational. Other people may have gone through traumatic experiences leaving them with serious cases of post-traumatic stress disorder. In some instances, it may be so severe that the individual is unable to go outside their houses. Hypnotherapy may be helpful in such cases since it helps the patient go to the root of their fears. The individual can face the anxieties while replacing them with empowering ideas which help in overcoming their fears.
